What a wedding day… Celebrating with these two love birds and the family and friends was one wonderful occasion to remember.
A beautiful venue, a beautiful autumn day, a stunning bride and her bridesmaids, Matt dressed as per the cover of GQ magazine, his groomsmen trying to match (jokes), what more can a photographer want.
What a wedding day… Celebrating with these two love birds and the family and friends was one wonderful occasion to remember.
This Cape Town photographer took a little trip recently to the warmer shores of Durban to capture the moments surrounding, and the wedding day of Tarlia & Bhav. I love shooting back in my old home town Durban, and this wedding day was just the reason I love being back there.
It was lights, cameras and action all the way. A day filled with golden moments, heartfelt romance, so many laughs and smiles and an occasion certainly to be celebrated and remembered.
Two wonderful friends of ours were recently married. I headed down to Llandudno beach to capture a few moments with them and their friends celebrating “beach style”. Sunset time on Llandudno is not stranger to this Cape Town photographer and on this day, there was simply no disappointing.
Kelly & Reece met with me a little while back in my home town of Melkbosstrand, here on Cape Town’s golden West Coast. Their wedding was some months away and they were in the country to chat to and catch up with their carefully selected wedding day suppliers. My first impression of the two of them was obvious, they wanted their wedding to be super laid back and full of fun, just like the two of them.
This was my first visit to The Dairy Shed on Contermanskloof Farm, Durbanville, and what an occasion it was for this Cape Town Photographer. I was there to capture treasured moments for Tammy and Bruce on this their wedding day celebration. A venue that truly suited their adventurous personalities and a venue that suited my style of creative photography.
Natasha & Michele wedding at Die Woud was another wedding day I will hold fondly in my memory for years to come. Not only was the day perfect and the location magnificent, the celebration of this marriage was one to behold. Friends and family arrived from afar and celebrated whole heartedly as these two walked back up the isle as husband and wife.
Haute Cabriere in the beautiful Franschhoek is one of the venues I have longed to shoot at since moving to the fair Cape. Thank you to Grace & Mark whose wedding I covered just a little while ago, I had the opportunity to do so. Not only was this a wedding of beauty and hearty celebration, but also a venue with one of the most picturesque landscape backdrops in the whole of the Franschhoek valley.
Stephanie, a doctor from San Francisco, CA & Brandon, a scientist with NASA, made contact with me a little while ago about covering their wonderful destination wedding here in the Western Cape at the beautiful Mont Rochelle Hotel in Franschhoek. Without hesitation, this Cape Town based photographer was delighted to be available on their wedding date and the relationship was set in motion.
More often than not, as a professional wedding photographer, I get to experience couples that come into my life and I get to experience them from more of a friendship perspective rather than a client only perspective. This I believe is what sets true professional wedding photographers apart from others, the personalisation and friendship relationship one can build in only a very short space of time.
This Cape Town Photographer loves travelling back to KZN to photograph, especially if it’s to photograph a wedding at the beautiful Hartford House in the KZN Midlands just inland from Mooi Rivier town. Kate and Marvin choose this lovely venue to celebrate their wedding day with their nearest and dearest friends and family.
Babylonstoren is truly a place of beauty, nestled on the infamous Cape wine route in the Simondium area, the Cape Dutch farm is in the Drakenstein Valley en route to Franschhoek. What a venue to celebrate a wonderful international wedding at. Eliza and Jon decided that South Africa it was for their wedding day, and what a celebration it turned out to be. Guests from Australia, the UK, the States and pretty much all over the globe flocked in to share the love at their best friend’s union.
This Cape Town photographer headed back to KZN recently for the wonderful wedding day of Heidi & Dusty Rich at the Orchid House on Collisheen Estate, in Ballito. Knowing quite a few folk at a wedding is always a treat, when you are the selected photographer. You get to hang out, feel like you are part of the festivities as well as capture some amazing moments with the lovely couple.
So it was back to Kwa Zulu Natal a few weeks back for this Cape Town based Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer. This time it was to the picturesque Boma wedding venue in Bisley near Pietermaritzburg for the wonderful wedding of Sarah and Daniel. How can I describe this couple, well to put it simply… they are rockstars.
How would you like to come to Thailand to shoot our wedding? Damn guys, yes of course I would! Was the immediate response my mind was giving, but being the professional Cape Town Photographer that I am, I just played it cool and said, hey that sounds amazing, let me check my availability and get back to you soonest. Well as it turns out, this guys was available and was doing a little happy dance. With a sit down drinks meeting (the best kind of meeting OF course) at Greenpoint Hudsons, the deal was struck and four or so months later I was jetting off to the wonderful Thailand island of Koh Phangan.
So after a brief meeting, a beer and a bite to eat I knew straight away that Stephanie and Christopher’s wedding was going to be one to remember. These two seemed to be the happiest couple in the whole of Cape Town as they chatted through their wedding day ideas with me and well… in all honesty, their wedding day was certainly one to keep in this Cape Town Photographers memory banks for a very long time.
A beautiful day and a wonderfully warm wedding. That is what this Cape Town Wedding & Lifestyle photographer was in for when he headed up the coast to the little fishing village of Arniston, which lies on the East Coast of the Western Cape, about 210 km from Cape Town city. Kimberley and James are a bubbly and fun filled couple that only wanted to have the best possible wedding day for themselves but mostly for their friends and family.
Devine & Liam had a stunning Friday Wedding at the wonderful Asara Wine Estate in Stellenbosch and I was the lucky photographer tasked to captured the day for them. A small, intimate wedding with close friends from throughout the globe. Relaxed and fun filled is how I would describe these two newlyweds and in fact it’s exactly the way I would describe their whole wedding day.
I recently had the pleasure of capturing Rozanne & Daniell’s wedding at the wonderful Schaftplaas wedding venue in Langebaan. What a stunning occasion with heartfelt and warm friendships, a very earthy styled wedding with decor to compliment this lovely couple’s personalities, many moments to remember and a party to top off this altogether beautiful day.
So this Cape Town Wedding and Lifestyle photographer headed out to the wonderful Old Mac Daddy in the Elgin Valley to spend a day with Angelique and Justin, capturing all the moments from their happy wedding day. The skies were blue, the sun was shining and all in all their wedding was an absolute stunner.
A preview from Joleen & Yasha’s lovely wedding at the beautiful Woodridge Country Estate back in KZN. This Cape Town Photographer loves travelling back to KZN for special occasions such as these.
Alexia and Pierre’s wedding was definitely one to be remembered. A handsome couple, a fantastic celebration and a genuine “kick ass” party to finish off the night. A beautiful location with settings every photographer dreams of capturing is what Hartford House has on offer.
I love travelling, so when the opportunity came to jump on a plane and head back to KZN to capture a stunning wedding at Netherwood in the Midlands, this Cape Town based wedding photographer did not hesitate. Tatum and Clint were to be married, and having covered their engagement shoot and the formal wedding a little while earlier, it was only a pleasure for me to be involved with their beautiful affair at this Midlands wedding venue gem.
Siobhan & Duncan’s wedding from a couple of weeks back was set in the heart of Ballito’s Collisheen Estate at The Orchid House. This was certainly one to remember. This Cape Town photographer has a history with Duncan and his mates having photographed them many times in the Durban based punk band Sheep Down. It was actually quite sobering to see all of the guys formally dressed with gentlemanly behaviour, a far cry from the sweaty, jumping, rift ripping musicians from not that long ago.
A little while back, this Cape Town Wedding Photographer had a wonderful wedding couple to shoot in the little town of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, at a stunning venue called The Plantation. Being very familiar with the “limelight”, Gareth and Megan were amazingly relaxed and easy to have in front of my cameras. Gareth being a well know and established comedian, and with South Africa’s very own Dusty Rich as his MC, you can surely understand that the day went from one laugh to the next. Here a just a few images from their amazing wedding day.
Absolutely loved this Wedding at Izotsha Creek on the KZN South Coast. I met up with Monica and Neil again in Muizenberg for their Trash the Dress shoot with some really beautiful Autumn skies with the scattered beach huts in the background.
What a wedding. Amazing locations, wonderful weather, stunning lighting and a fantastic couple… Wilma & Regan’s wedding took place recently at the beautiful Mofam River Lodge, situated in the Elgin Valley here in the Western Cape. As a Cape Town Wedding Photographer I must admit I am truly spoilt with the endless natural beauty that is found in this lovely part of our planet and with the ability to be able to capture the beauty it offers. Long summer days and breathtaking sunsets are all part of the deal here in the fairest Cape.
Amanta and Stuart are wonderful people, full of smiles and laughter and there to have the best fun they can with their closest and dearest friends. That is what this wedding was all about, friendship, fun, laughter, smiles, craft beer and amazing food.
Heading down the western coast through Cape Town city, past Camp’s Bay Beach and on the drive towards Llandudno Beach, Sandy Bay and Hout Bay there is a wonderful, and now famous, hotel called The Twelve Apostles. I had never photographed there before and was only too happy and excited to be on my way to photograph the wedding of Grant and Nicola.
Malmesbury Home Affairs was the start of the wedding day for this Cape Town Photographer. The Rhodes’ would soon be arriving and their small group of amazing friends, all dressed in white, waited outside the home affairs office to welcome the soon to be newlyweds. Local town folk, smiles beaming with excitement and car guards running around hysterically announcing the arrival of their all time cricketing hero with his beautiful bride in hand.
New Years Eve, the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015. Lizani & Henry invited me to shoot their wonderful and romantic wedding in Paternoster on the West Coast of the Cape Province. For this Cape Town Photographer this was quite a big occasion as I had never visited this sleepy little fishing village and it’s beautiful surroundings before.
I chose to come home for my wedding: “Both Troy and I were born in SA and spent our childhoods family holidays experiencing the beauty of SA through wildlife. Although we live in London now SA will always be our home and you just cant shake that love for raw African nature and that’s why we both knew this was a memory that had to be create there.”
This shoot was at the wedding venue Talloula and was for their Easter Edition of the magazine.
Glynnis and her team were fantastic and the shoot was a breeze.
Jessica & Scott flew into South Africa for their beautiful wedding at the wonderful Zorgvleit Wines Wedding Venue in the magnificent Stellenbosch area of the Western Cape.
So on Saturday the 8th December this Cape Town Wedding Photographer headed out to the beautiful Riebeek Kasteel region, here in the Western Cape, to photograph the wedding of Ronel & Neil Coetzee at the wonderful Delsma Farm, which is about 15km outside the town itself. Passing through the little town of Malmesburg en route to Delsma, reminded me of the wedding I had photographed just two weeks prior, that of Jonty Rhodes and his wonderful lady, Melanie - (post coming soon)
Have a look at the black and white images I have posted below to get a look into what this 5 star kitchen’s master chef and his staff get up to behind the scenes.
With the models, makeup artists, hairstylist and fashion designer all on board, we headed up Hartford House to begin the day of styled shooting.
Event & Fashion Show Photography - Here are some of the images I took on the closing night of the fashion show in Cape Town.
These two awesome people met in Thailand and fell in love on their overseas adventures. Soon they were on their way home with wedding news and baby on the way. It was so awesome shooting at Cranford Country Lodge before we left for Cape Town. This romantic wedding was just the perfect one to end off in KZN with bright pops of red and tattoos!
Soon before we left for Cape Town we photographed Robyn and Gareth at Docklands Hotel in Durban. We met Gareth through Suit Yourself where he worked in Durban North. This was the ultimate DIY wedding, with many aspects, all in black and white. What a beautiful day of family and love.
Every time the Lee’s make a trip out to South Africa we have an awesome little session with them.
Debra & Bruce hail for the small town of Underberg where Bruce is a beef and dairy farmer.
Debs, with a psychology degree, works at Riverview Manor Specialist Clinic.
These two lovely people had a beautiful, fun filled wedding at the wonderful Lake Eland in KZN.
A doctor and an executive chef meet online, one to meet friends, the other as a joke. They figure out that they are totally matched, fall in love, they plan a crazy awesome carnival/dark-circus style wedding, dye their hair, wear lots of red and kilts and have one of the best weddings in the country side ever!
Now tell me you do not want to click the “read more” button after that.
We all have weddings we are particularly excited to shoot and when we met Emrys & Ros for coffee just before the wedding we were very stoked to be a part of this special day. Emrys is a software developer and Rosalind is a flight attendant - but this is not even the most exciting part of this intriguing couple.
We loved every minute of this wedding from the vegetarian menu to the fantastic cake. Thank you as always to the great staff at the Three Cities Docklands Hotel which is situated next to Wodka restaurant on Mahatma Gandhi Drive.
“We had a such a fun time, every one was chilled out so made for a stress free day! We just loved how the whole day came together, absolutely perfect for us.”
Back in 2012 I had never been to the gorgeous arty little town of Clarens. Jaimi had visited nearby at Paul Roux but in that January we were asked by a good mate Duncan to shoot his wedding in a forest off the Fouriesberg Road, now two years later Candice and Lad asked us to shoot their special day - only this time we would be shooting at the amazing Gourmet Shed. We were so happy that after shooting a couple family weddings that Candice & Lad asked us to be at there’s too!
Jaimi and I still talk about this wedding to this day, the craft market vibe, the school desks pushed together, the intimacy of Irene’s letter to her late Dad at the wedding ceremony, the craft beers, the milk tert shooters, the live band Snowing Down South and burgers and pizza for dinner are just some, and I mean JUST SOME highlights. As you will see by my abnormally long 170 image post - this one was one for the books. Oh my word and the DOOS-WYN, how could I forget :). You will see what I mean.
Jade & Jason were married at Tala Game Reserve. The light was beautiful at this wedding which made my job really easy on the photo-shoot. This particular shot was taken on the Acacia deck at Tala Game Reserve over looking the waterhole. Another awesome event at Tala with our good mates, Scott & Kate Bain of Wedding Co South Africa.
Nicola & Grant Olivier got married at Talloula in Bothas Hill, their day was seamless. The feel of the wedding was uncluttered and classic with a definite feeling of involvement from the couple. The day played out really relaxed with a good family heart to heart reception and the food and wine was awesome. Thank you for allowing us to blog your special wedding.
Talloula is a wedding, conference venue and restaurant located close to the entrance of Bothas Hill. The venue offers a well manicured canvas for your special day, conference or food affair. Everything is immaculate, from the decor to the staff, the choice in furniture and cutlery. It really shows the complete soul investment from the owners Glynnis Dircksen and Louis Gordon
I first met Glynnis and her daughter Lindsay at a wedding fair about 3 years ago and their style overwhelmed me with excitement. It was all tulips and soft petal flowers, no red roses, no metal vases, everything was pastel and awesome. So naturally you wonder, why convert the decor brand to a venue, Glynnis says that about 4 yrs ago when she got tired of travelling to other venues to do décor she had this dream of creating her style within her own spaces. Somewhere she could offer her skills but in an environment thats simple for brides and where she could endlessly express herself. Often when brides book Talloula and Glynnis asks them for a decor concept, they just say “do what you do, whatever you create will be beautiful…”. That says something!
Sometimes you get the gift of finding friends in your wedding couples. Sometimes its a match made in heaven ;) so we would like to thank Debbie from Etc Events for being the catalyst in this situation. Our journey with who we then called “Candice & Mark” started in about July 2011 when they booked us for their wedding, there were nuances of it being a “different wedding” - now sometimes you do not take that too seriously because almost everyone feels that their wedding is unique in their own way, which they are. BUT not like this.
So I give you Mr & Mrs Pants as we now affectionately call them.
