So we have just hit week 3 in our Hipstamatic 366 and it is crazy how time flies when you are busy. Thankfully week 3 ended in a free weekend, so we held an awesome 2 year anniversary party!
Day 16 - Finding something to shoot
Some days you just dont know what the heck to photograph, and its good though because it makes you look and see, its actually such a good exercise. Even my amazing Adrian’s imagination taps out a bit after the while. But when I saw the litchi tray on the kitchen top I knew it - texture! 1 - Find surface 2- Photograph a couple of times 3- Post before I think too much about it. And heck it looks pretty cool. The surface I shot it on (our dining room table) and the editing afterwards really brought out the texture of the litchi. So that was day 16!
Day 17 - Find something else to shoot =)
So we found the 8 ball. Adrian and his guys love pool and sometimes we head down to On Cue to play a couple games but it is nice having our own pool table so we can jam at home. They have this “golden buck” which Brendan bought from the SPCA store about 2 years back, it has a DC sticker stuck on its stomach and whoever wins Pool, Tennis or Soccer games gets the trophy. I think the novelty has worn off but still - its a cool memory.
Day 18 - Chinese Shop
Adrian and I often have our Chinese Shop adventures where we just go into these stores and scrounge around for cool stuff. We ended up at the Hillcrest one at Hillgate Centre about 5 times on Thursday. There is a huge shop in Springfield Park in Durban as well. Click here - and then china city for more info. We ended up with some epic stuff for our party on the Saturday like Wigs, pendants, mustaches (which are 80’s we know) and also some really affordable Blackberry and iPhone covers. Good day no?
Day 19 - SPCA = Fun
Adrian loves his vintage camera buys. And he got elbow deep in all the shelves in the record shop at a local SPCA shop. He found some amazing video and slide projectors. We are hoping to get Daddy Deon’s old videos out of storage for some good old nostalgia. I love watching him in those shops - he just goes crazy for old goods and I think we may need to build an extra room in our house so we can stop stubbing toes on these staunch old finds. I am all good with this hobby dont get me wrong. AND… as a side note, they worth a bit so we could get rich off vintage stuffs =). Whatever makes you happy my Baby-face! This one is the Bell & Howell.
Day 20 - iPhones get to be vintage too!
Adrian has always loved the accessories you can get for your iPhone from this one site called Photojojo. So when Adrian and I were at Mr P at Pavilion on Friday getting our hands on these funky iPhone covers was kinda epic. If you ever want to buy my man something cool - find something on the Photojojo store and he may just fall in love with you!
Day 21 - Happy anniversary Babes
We do not often get weekend’s off so this particular weekend we had a plan. P A R T Y. We had an awesome hippy/bohemian party at Stokers Arms in Kloof. Adrian and I decked out the place with the help of our Jessica, our always faithful friend. In amongst all the madness of selling my car, looking at a new one, Pavilion and chinese shop trips it was amazing that we found ourselves all done at the coach by 12pm. Adrian and I did our own 60’s playlist, made props, as well as hippy signs. It was a super bash and we even tried out our new Fujifilm Wide Polaroid camera which was just about the best thing ever. Bloody well should be at R18 a print :).
Day 22 - Sunday and a bit of a slow down
Sjoe, well the weekend was hectic. We partied until 12:30 and then slept in until 9am. Adrian and I were not up to running around like crazies and were not amped for a photo-find excursion so Elvis got the gig! This is one of our albums we bought for R20 at the record shop. Some finds there for sure!
See you next week and hope you are enjoying the project!
LOVE, The Shieldsters
