“Showcasing the biggest names in the industry, Shimmy Beach Club, in a partnership with Hunters Dry, brings you Fokofpolisiekar, Jack Parow, Karen Zoid, Francois van Coke, Arno Carstens and Early B Music, for an unrivalled alternative music experience set in a spectacular ocean side setting”
This Cape Town Guy (And Ambitious Photographer) recently had the privilege of joining in on the wonderful journey with the Put Foot Foundation’s 2017 Rally. With little expectancy for the journey I was about about to embark on, after a kiss from my beautiful wife Jaimi, I headed out into the cold wintery early hours of a Sunday morning in the middle of June from my home town Melkbosstrand, and jumped onboard with an rowdy yet wonderfully friendly Aussie crew who I was assigned to for certain legs of our adventure. Jason, the leader of the Aussie pack “Reboot Yourself - Happy Day” was a legend to spend time with, himself having done the 2016 Rally, so his knowledge of what was on route, what to see and where to go was just golden. Jason you legend.
What a wedding day… Celebrating with these two love birds and the family and friends was one wonderful occasion to remember.
A beautiful venue, a beautiful autumn day, a stunning bride and her bridesmaids, Matt dressed as per the cover of GQ magazine, his groomsmen trying to match (jokes), what more can a photographer want.
This Cape Town photographer took a little trip recently to the warmer shores of Durban to capture the moments surrounding, and the wedding day of Tarlia & Bhav. I love shooting back in my old home town Durban, and this wedding day was just the reason I love being back there.
It was lights, cameras and action all the way. A day filled with golden moments, heartfelt romance, so many laughs and smiles and an occasion certainly to be celebrated and remembered.
Two wonderful friends of ours were recently married. I headed down to Llandudno beach to capture a few moments with them and their friends celebrating “beach style”. Sunset time on Llandudno is not stranger to this Cape Town photographer and on this day, there was simply no disappointing.
Kelly & Reece met with me a little while back in my home town of Melkbosstrand, here on Cape Town’s golden West Coast. Their wedding was some months away and they were in the country to chat to and catch up with their carefully selected wedding day suppliers. My first impression of the two of them was obvious, they wanted their wedding to be super laid back and full of fun, just like the two of them.
“PRODUCTION – it’s what we do…..with passion!” True words from Cape Town Productions
On a recent international shoot I was hired to cover, in our beautiful Cape Town and her surroundings, I had the privilege of working alongside of one of Cape Town’s most professional and friendly production companies, namely Cape Town Productions. These guys really know their stuff…
This was my first visit to The Dairy Shed on Contermanskloof Farm, Durbanville, and what an occasion it was for this Cape Town Photographer. I was there to capture treasured moments for Tammy and Bruce on this their wedding day celebration. A venue that truly suited their adventurous personalities and a venue that suited my style of creative photography.
Natasha & Michele wedding at Die Woud was another wedding day I will hold fondly in my memory for years to come. Not only was the day perfect and the location magnificent, the celebration of this marriage was one to behold. Friends and family arrived from afar and celebrated whole heartedly as these two walked back up the isle as husband and wife.
Every now and then, this Cape Town based photographer get’s to let his hair down, “dress down to dress up”, and to venture out with his favourite steed (In this case his wonderful wife Jaimi) to a music festival with some of the greatest musicians to take the stage on the various platforms around this great country.
Haute Cabriere in the beautiful Franschhoek is one of the venues I have longed to shoot at since moving to the fair Cape. Thank you to Grace & Mark whose wedding I covered just a little while ago, I had the opportunity to do so. Not only was this a wedding of beauty and hearty celebration, but also a venue with one of the most picturesque landscape backdrops in the whole of the Franschhoek valley.
Saturday morning, just a week ago, Jaimi and I woke up at 05:00, packed my “Old Girl” with our dusty camping gear and hit the road en route to the beautiful Cederburg wilderness area to hike the infamous Wolfburg Cracks. We had heard a lot about the Cracks from our fellow hiking buddies and always wanted to give it a try. The weather forecast was good, and this looked like the perfect weekend to attempt this.
Stephanie, a doctor from San Francisco, CA & Brandon, a scientist with NASA, made contact with me a little while ago about covering their wonderful destination wedding here in the Western Cape at the beautiful Mont Rochelle Hotel in Franschhoek. Without hesitation, this Cape Town based photographer was delighted to be available on their wedding date and the relationship was set in motion.
More often than not, as a professional wedding photographer, I get to experience couples that come into my life and I get to experience them from more of a friendship perspective rather than a client only perspective. This I believe is what sets true professional wedding photographers apart from others, the personalisation and friendship relationship one can build in only a very short space of time.
This Cape Town Photographer loves travelling back to KZN to photograph, especially if it’s to photograph a wedding at the beautiful Hartford House in the KZN Midlands just inland from Mooi Rivier town. Kate and Marvin choose this lovely venue to celebrate their wedding day with their nearest and dearest friends and family.
Babylonstoren is truly a place of beauty, nestled on the infamous Cape wine route in the Simondium area, the Cape Dutch farm is in the Drakenstein Valley en route to Franschhoek. What a venue to celebrate a wonderful international wedding at. Eliza and Jon decided that South Africa it was for their wedding day, and what a celebration it turned out to be. Guests from Australia, the UK, the States and pretty much all over the globe flocked in to share the love at their best friend’s union.
Well what can I say… this Cape Town Lifestyle & Wedding Photographer has also been a massive follower and shooter of South African and International music, and bands for about 20 years now. Having photographed locally, and throughout South Africa, I have had the privilege of meeting and capturing some of my personal music favourites.
This Cape Town photographer headed back to KZN recently for the wonderful wedding day of Heidi & Dusty Rich at the Orchid House on Collisheen Estate, in Ballito. Knowing quite a few folk at a wedding is always a treat, when you are the selected photographer. You get to hang out, feel like you are part of the festivities as well as capture some amazing moments with the lovely couple.
Jaimi and I headed to the wonderful Ginger & Lime Food Studio in Fresnaye, Cape Town, and this time it was for a food experience with the Interactive Menu of “Private Chef” Neill Anthony. Taste buds at the ready, cameras loaded, we were certainly in for a treat from the culinary skills of this Zimbabwe born celebrity chef.
Last weekend, Jaimi and I headed for a little get away up the east coast to a stunning little town called Franskraal, just 50 km passed Hermanus. Famous for it shark cage diving, Franskraal is really a place well worth visiting for her seascapes, landscapes, second hand stores and a friendly small town vibe. If it’s a chilled and relaxed time out that you need then this is a must on your map of “town’s to visit”.
Set up in The Old Maturation Cellar (built in 1693) on the lawns of the Bellingham Homestead (which is now a museum of beautiful artwork and decor), the twelve seater lunch table was beautifully set, candles lit, heaters were on and I really felt like I was being treated as royalty would have been back in the early part of last century, but with the warmth and sincerity of a close family affair.
So it was back to Kwa Zulu Natal a few weeks back for this Cape Town based Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer. This time it was to the picturesque Boma wedding venue in Bisley near Pietermaritzburg for the wonderful wedding of Sarah and Daniel. How can I describe this couple, well to put it simply… they are rockstars.
How would you like to come to Thailand to shoot our wedding? Damn guys, yes of course I would! Was the immediate response my mind was giving, but being the professional Cape Town Photographer that I am, I just played it cool and said, hey that sounds amazing, let me check my availability and get back to you soonest. Well as it turns out, this guys was available and was doing a little happy dance. With a sit down drinks meeting (the best kind of meeting OF course) at Greenpoint Hudsons, the deal was struck and four or so months later I was jetting off to the wonderful Thailand island of Koh Phangan.
So where would this Cape Town based photographer rather be on a Wednesday morning? In his office, editing away at some work with not too distant deadlines, or heading out on behalf of his marketing team Banshee 22 and being treated to wonderful wine, delicious food and interesting companionship at one of the Western Cape’s most loved and most famous wine farms, at the launch of their Regional Revival Range.
So after a brief meeting, a beer and a bite to eat I knew straight away that Stephanie and Christopher’s wedding was going to be one to remember. These two seemed to be the happiest couple in the whole of Cape Town as they chatted through their wedding day ideas with me and well… in all honesty, their wedding day was certainly one to keep in this Cape Town Photographers memory banks for a very long time.
